A Skeptic’s Outlook On Astrology Reading

Let us face it: astrology readings are very hot nowadays. A lot of people are paying much, much attention to these readings because, as a lot of people would say, their readings make total sense! And they understand themselves better after having such an astrology reading!

But for the skeptics out there, and there are many as well today, there is just too little evidence to safely say that an astrology reading is indeed very accurate when it comes to one’s fate and the like. Plus, there are many things that skeptics can see in astrology that are, well, quite wrong in nature.

Firstly, there is the fact that the development of astrology was actually based on Geocentricism. In its simplest form, Geocentricism is defined as the belief that the planet Earth is the center of the universe. We all know that belief was trashed thousands of years ago, right? Thus, how can astrology readings be accurate when they are based on an abandoned belief?

Secondly, there is also the fact that deities of the mythical nature are the basis of astrology as well. These are mythical deities so there really is no scientific evidence that can prove that astrology does have the ability to predict the personality of a person and the like. No scientific proof can be found regarding the marital success of a couple you know, and even the death of a person or your own self.

Thirdly, if astrology readings were indeed accurate, then what is the scientific basis for this claim when it comes to childbirth? How does the alignment of the stars and the planets come into play when you talk about these celestial bodies having a direct affect on the personality of a child during childbirth? Is the gravitational pull of a particular planet the one affecting this area of the child’s personality? Or is it another planet doing so? Scientifically

speaking, it would actually be more feasible for the nearest clock to have some sort of gravitational effect on the baby. The nearest planet would be light-years away from the baby. Thus, there really is no scientific basis for this.

Fourthly, let us say that celestial bodies do have a degree of effect on people, no matter how unknown this force may be. If so, then how do these celestial bodies choose the people they affect directly? What constitutes the selection process there? Is it the element of time that influences the selection process? Or is it the location of the person perhaps? There is still no scientific basis here.

What about the genetic makeup of man? Now, we all know that our genes determine a person’s looks, traits, and certain facets of his or her personality. Wouldn’t it make more sense for the genetic makeup of a person to actually have a direct effect on his or her personality, rather than the alignment and movement of celestial bodies? The study of genetics has a lot of scientific studies and significant results that can support this anytime, any place. Aside from genetics, wouldn’t the culture and religion of the person have reasonable effects on the one’s personality as well?

Plus, we all know that Mars, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter are some of the major planets that have an influencing hand, when it comes to astrology. But what about the other planets? What about Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune? Why weren’t these planet taken into account by the earlier astrologers? That is one of the mishaps that the proponents of astrology readings would have a hard time answering to.

Yes, there is indeed reason to be skeptical when it comes to astrology readings. But at the end of the day, it would actually depend on the beliefs of a certain person. If a person regards an astrology reading as so powerful that he would not leave the house because his reading advises against it, then there is something wrong right there. An astrology reading should be viewed as a mere guide, not a directing force in one’s life.
