How about those non-comedic images who have had extreme or yo-yo dieting habits like Oprah or Star Jones (and both started their TV careers as slightly-larger-than-average women)? Who told them they were too big to make a difference by being articulate, smart Black women? Should they have taken a page from one of the Rosies (Barr, Arnold or whatever she's calling herself today or O'Donnell) and just k
ept some of the weight on? As our world becomes more and more diverse, when will this be reflected in media properly and evenly? The sad truth is that the television and Internet are the main means of communication to the outside world outside of work for a great deal of the American population. We put in more hours on the job or attend classes part-time, we see our communities less and eventually, lose touch with reality.
