Getting Away With Murder: The Truth About Kurt Cobain's Death part two
The Evidence
The case itself, actually was an open and shut case with plenty of evidence leading to murder. First of all the cops made some big mistakes at the scene. One of the officers touched the body and rearranged his clothing a little, and then they lied about a stool being placed against the door so it was blocked from access. The stool was not, in fact, blocking the entrance, much less even near it.
Their last mistake was having been to quick to decide that it was a suicide. They didn't even write down in the report that the body had been moved in the opposite position before the first officer arrived at the scene. Not only did they make a lot of mistakes surrounding Kurt's murder, but one of their own kind was killed because of it. Detective Terry was the only known officer who would be able to prove it was a murder. He was shot off duty according to his time clock, which was later found to have been tampered with. With those little mistakes, these police officers forgot the bigger picture; that Kurt had a gun pointed inside his mouth. Kurt's initail autopsy shows that heroine killed him, yet he had a hole in his mouth from a gun. "He couldn't have had pulled the trigger, because he'd had to have been dead like within 30 seconds of all that heroine consumption. Even if he was tolerated, it was four times more the lethal amount for that" (Halperin68-79).
If Kurt really did commit suicide, the way the gun was positioned would have proved it wrong. First of all, it's impossible to shoot yourself from a certain angle, and second of all, all guns have their own aftermath of a shooting. They move and jump at least t
wo feet away. The gun was still on Kurt's body when he was found. Besides not having jumped, fingerprints were not found on the shotgun, the cartridge, or the pen that was stabbed thru the note. Speaking of the cartridge and it's bullets; there were three bullets loaded in the gun.
If he really was suicidal then why the need to shoot himself three times-one time would be sufficient enough. Apparently it looks as if Kurt Cobain was very desperate to shot himself because of those three bullets, and plus the "suicidal note". Well actually, the "suicidal note" wasn't really suicidal looking at all. The handwriting was really different at the top and at the bottom, and it was written to Kurt Cobain's childhood imaginary friend, named Boddah. But several times throughout the "letter" his fans were spoken to. Why wasn't it addressed to his fans then?
Later on Detective Tom Grant pulled out a weirder evidence. While Kurt was dead, somebody had been using his credit card, trying to purchase more than eight thousand dollars worth of items. This card was never found and neither was the person using it. Another unexplained event was when Courtney Love had Cobain's body cremated. This was against his own request, which was mentioned in his unsigned will at the time of his death. Did Love do this to get rid of any evidence? (127-174) Grant never understood this, and he guesses Love doesn't undestand why he won't give up. He replied to a newspaper the answer; "Because this is a murder (and) there are kids out there who are killing themselves over it...I wouldn't be out there risking my reputation and my business if I convinced that this was a murder" (Pedersen 44). As anyone can see, there is a lot more evidence proving that Kurt Cobain was murdered rather than suicidal.
