Jessica Simpson Goes Country

  By Jason McLaney

Sweet Success

In 1999, the blonde bombshell Jessica Simpson stormed the airwaves with her first album ¡°Sweet Kisses, selling over 2 million albums upon its debut release. Her two biggest singles off that album were "I Wanna Love You Forever", and "I Think I'm In Love With You" which catapulted Sweet Kisses to double platinum status. Throughout Jessica's career, she has experimented with many different types of pop music, but she was shot to international stardom when her album ¡°In This Skin debuted in 2003 and the TV show ¡°Newly Weds aired.

Jessica went on to record a total of 6 pop based albums selling multi-million copies over a 7 year span. While Jessica has always been admired as the pop princess, her roots for music run deeper than just her talent. She has always wanted to record a country album, but her fans only knew her as a pop star. Knowing that the move to country could cause her to loose most of her fan base, Jessica decided to
wait for the right time to make the move.

Growing up in Texas, she was raised listening to country music and Jessica has always wanted to record a country CD. In 2007, Jessica's father, Joe Simpson, reported to People Magazine that Jessica was going to record and release a country album. She then went to Nashville after her release of ¡°A Public Affair and started recording her cross over album. Jessica released her first country genre album titled ¡°Do You Know in September 2008, and is a popular hit with her fans. Her new albums lead off single ¡°Come on Over debuted at number 18 on the country charts and was followed up by ¡°Remember That. With song titles such as ¡°Do You Know which is a duet with country legend Dolly Parton, this album is sure to be one of her best recordings to date. According to Jessica's fan blogs, the cross over album of 11 tracks seems to be a hit with them. The new album is running up the country charts and is earning hours of play time on radio stations around the world.
