My Unusual night in Mumbai Slums - Page 2 of 2
I frantically looked at my phone which for some reason had stopped working, which I later learned was due to lack of telephone signals in the area. I somehow managed to find a public telephone booth which was situated in the corner of a wider path. I dialed my friend`s number hoping I could reach her. She answered, and I told her my situation, all in one breath. I strongly felt the area being insecure rather from the whimsical tales than the actual situation I was in.
She advised me to find an autorickshaw(which is common on those parts for transport). It was tough to fetch me because I couldnt help her with any landmarks to find me. All I could see was long stretch of huts and paths. Anyway, after a long time I was able to find
Back to the other side of the coin, I couldn`t stop thinking about the side I had been to. It was not pleasant to think about the less privileged. It definitely had caused a new found respect for everything I have. And also made me ponder on how can I be helpful. They lack so much in life, yet move on. When I hear quetches from the shinier side of the coin, about trivia, I seldom lent my ear.
