Shark Tank the Best New Reality Series
I very seldom watch anything on network television. It is really rare that I watch any sort of reality show. I accidently found this new show called "Shark Tank". The name is rather deceiving because I thought it was literally a show about the animal, shark. It is far from it.
The show is about this group of self made millionnaires who are willing to invest in new businesses with their own money. The investors include a real estate investor, an internet mogul, the founder of FUBU clothing line. There are three other investors as well. The stars of the show however are the entrepreneurs who come on the show to make a pitch for investment dollars. The sharks (investors) are really hard on the participants. The entrepreneurs must come prepared to explain their business from top to bottom. They usually bring samples if it is consumer product they own. They must be specific in the amount of money they are ask
ing for and what precentage of the business they are willing to give for the investment. They must be able to answer any question thrown at them by the investors.
Once the pitch is made by the entrepreneur the "Sharks" then decide if they want to invest in the company. The investors may choose to not invest at all or they may change the terms of the offer. There have been instances where two investors have gone in together to invest in a company. More often than not however, all the investors decline to invest in the company. This means that the entrepreneur goes away empty handed.
I have only been watching this program for about 4 weeks. I have already learned a lot about how to present your company in the best light if you want to entice investors. It is really great to see a reality series that is truly helpful to those who participate as well as the audience members.
