Ok, so you've got your band together, you have a firm set list and have a few shows under you belt. Let me guess where you problem is now, you've been playing shows for your moms and the sound guy, right?
Thats no way to get noticed. Its also no way to get paid.
Don't you want to become more popular and get paid for your talent and time?
Of Course you do! Thats where this article will come in handy to you. There are plenty of ways that you can start building your fan base and starting grabbing a hold of your future career as a professional musician.
Now, the very first and the most important thing for any ambitious musician to remember is this: You Have To Treat Your Music Like a Second Job.
Seriously. You can't just play music and expect it to go some where. In order for people to start noticing that your band might be on the top 40 list in the future, you have to tell them about it! You have to get out into the world and work for it.
The second thing that you must think about is this, its is your Fans that pay you. There are very few bars, clubs or venues that will pay you out of their own pockets
. In fact, I don't know any who will. The bars, clubs and venues get paid from what Your Fans drink and buy from the bar. The money you make comes from the door fee, which is paid by the people who come to see.
You should never expect to get paid just because you have talent. If you truly are musicial genuises, than a record company might find you one day and pay you, but the chances of them finding you when no one knows about you is slim.
Ok, now that we have gone over two very important things to remember, I have a small list for you of idea's and tools you can use to build your fan base and push yourself towards your dreams.
1) Social Marketing Sites
I know you probably have a myspace account, but do you use it? Now, it is important to remember that social networking sites will not be a main way to grab fans, but they are very important promotional tools.
You will want to join as many social networks as you can manage. You won't want to sign up to site and then not update it or keep track of it. Make sure that you get onto your social networking sites and chat with your fans or friends and keep them interested in coming back to listen to your music.
